In April 2020, Western Maryland RC&D partnered with the Maryland Forest Service and 11 private landowners to plant 141 acres of native trees in Allegany County, Maryland. Western Maryland RC&D was awarded $624,260 in funding from the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund to complete the project, which included establishing over 16,000 linear feet of riparian buffer, and planting 24.9 acres of previously mined areas.

This 13.5-acre tree planting, which includes 2,475 feet of riparian buffer in the Fifteen Mile Creek Watershed, was completed in April of 2020.

This 17.36-acre tree planting, located on re-claimed mine land in the Georges Creek Watershed, was completed in April of2020.
